A Renewed Call to Service
First, happy Veteran’s Day to all my fellow veterans! It is humbling to reflect upon and honor those who served before us, it was and is (we all know we never really leave the military) an honor to serve with you, and it is uplifting to see those who continue to serve today. Thank you! On behalf of my fellow veterans, I extend a special recognition to our spouses and children; a veteran never serves alone, it very much is a family affair. I pray God’s blessings and protection upon those who have, are, and will serve!
Like most veterans, I spend little time reveling. We are men and women of action; so let’s get back to the mission. Our mission is to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”. Our veterans have always answered the call and have done an honorable job, of defending our country, in the physical sense against foreign enemies. However, I believe sadly so, that we have failed to fully defend the Constitution of the United States. We have so focused on the defense against potential physical threats we have failed to recognize the attacks against the Constitution taking place in much more subtle ways.
Yes, we have failed to fully defend the Constitution. A cursory look at our nation indicates that there is a war that is happening now, actively, within our borders. This war is the War on Morality.
This war is waged by the Anti-Christian movement, spiritually led by The Enemy and physically advanced by those who have not fully surrendered their lives to the saving power of Jesus Christ. There are no non-combatants, no neutral parties in this war. Jesus declared in Matthew 12:30 that “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.” This war has raged from the beginning of mankind against the very foundations of our Constitution which include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What is the main front in this war? It is clear that the main focus of attack is against the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
Amendment I, Freedom, Petitions, Assembly
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
More specifically, we only need to look at one phrase “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” to see what is under attack.
Everyone ought to read the writings of the founders of our nation…not in a revised text book, but the original words of the authors themselves. It quickly becomes apparent that the intent behind the First Amendment was NOT to create a Godless society. The intent was to create a Nation free to exercise religion however and whenever they saw fit OR to not exercise religion however and whenever they saw fit. It DOES NOT say that any person is free FROM religion. Unfortunately, this is how “the enemy” has attacked the Constitution. Somehow, many believe that they should be free FROM religion. This is not true and is a direct attack on the Constitution.
This is why I say that most Christian leaders, politicians, veterans, and citizens have failed to defend our Constitution and today we are paying the price. And each day the price is getting steeper and the recapturing of lost ground becomes difficult.
Today, Christians are called to honor and thank our Veterans for their service by continuing to defend our Country today. The War on Morality strikes to the very core of our Country and the Constitution itself. It is a war that cannot be lost. It is a war that only Jesus Christ can win. And Jesus Christ works through the lives and through the words of His Church.
Christians, it is time to stand and defend your right to the free exercise of religion. It is time to take Jesus Christ back into office and into every area of our lives.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Thank a veteran for their service (today, tomorrow, and every day).
Stand and defend your right to the free exercise of religion demonstrating the grace and peace of Jesus Christ. Stand beside those who are being attacked for their religious beliefs.
Luke 21:14-15 “14So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, 15for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!”
Serve veterans in your community showing and speaking the love of God into their lives.
Jesus Christ demonstrated that the ultimate call is to serve others rather than ourselves. However, Philippians 2 sums it up best and John 13:1-17 shows it in action.

Pray. Pray. Pray.
Dedicate yourself today to defend the Constitution.
